Beneficiary story of NGO in Telangana

As a NGO in Telangana, Akshaya Patra food also gets served in the Zilla Parishad School of T.K Pura village in Hyderabad. Nestled amidst medieval grandeur, the vast agricultural farms indicate that the main occupation of residents here is agriculture. Rightly so, the teacher in-charge of the school Mrs. Shardha, during her brief about the school and children made a mention that most of the children at school come from schedule castes and backward castes and their families income either source from agriculture or by working as daily wage earners. She shared her concern about dropout rate and at the same time she also pointed out that enrolment rate in 2014 has increased by 2%. She also emphasised that there has been continuous improvement in countering dropout rate and was happy to share that most of the students are showing regular attendance.

Akshaya Patra Beneficiary

Among the many beneficiaries of this NGO in Telangana, here is an anecdote of a Standard V student, Venu. Venu is the second among the three siblings. His elder sister and younger brother also study in the same school and beneficiaries of this NGO in Telangana. His parents are daily wage earners. Venu’s sense of responsibility gets reflected with his act of helping his grandmother with household chores after returning from school and then dedicating time for homework and studies. English is his favourite subject and he says that this language has allowed him to explore a lot. Venu aspires to be an Engineer and his teacher Mrs. Shardha is confident about his intelligence and abilities. Talking about Akshaya Patra food, Venu readily says that his aloo sabji (potato preparation) and biryani (mixed rice preparation) are his all-time favourite.
A Standard V student having such consideration about English language is no mere incidence; rather it is an indication of the sincerity of a child towards his studies. There are many such stories of children who are the beneficiaries of this NGO in Telangana. You can read about them here.
