Latest NGO news in Surat



The inauguration of Akshaya Patra’s Surat kitchen on 15th February 2015 by Gujarat’s Chief Minister Anandiben Patel is one of the latest NGO news in Surat. The centralised kitchen facility of this NGO in Surat was sponsored by Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC).


After the inaugural ceremonies of ribbon cutting by the Chief Minister and lighting of the lamp, all the dignitaries were taken for a tour of the kitchen facility. It was a first-hand experience of the state-of-the-art equipment that has been installed to prepare hygienic, nutritious and wholesome mid-day meal for the children by this NGO in Surat. The kitchen inauguration was followed by Anandiben Patel flagging off custom-built Akshaya Patra mid-day meal delivery vans for transporting food to all the beneficiary schools.


The latest NGO news in Surat covers the presence of eminent dignitaries at the inauguration. Along with the Gujarat Chief Minister and Akshaya Patra representatives Chanchalapathi Dasa, Vice Chairman and Jaganmohan Krishna Dasa, President of Akshaya Patra Gujarat unit, the inauguration was attended by Nanubhai Vanani, Minister of State (Primary, Secondary & Adult); C.R. Patil and Darshnaben Jardosh, MPs, Surat; Rakesh Asthana, Commissioner, Surat Police; Niranjanbhai Zanzmera, Mayor; Janak M Patel and Purnesh Modi, MLAs, Surat; Dr. Rajendra Kumar, Collector, Surat District; Milind Torwane, Commissioner, Surat Municipal Corporation; S.K. Pathak, Executive Director (Hazira), ONGC; and Aalok Misra, Executive Director (HR), Chief CSR, ONGC.


The day also saw felicitation of donors who helped in the construction of the Akshaya Patra’s kitchen in Surat.
