The Akshaya Patra Foundation is a NGO in India. It is an implementer of the Central Mid-Day Meal Scheme in India. Currently, this NGO in India is serving nutritious and wholesome meal to over 1.4 million children every day. This NGO in India has support bases all over the world with two of its Resource Mobilisation offices in the U.K. and the U.S.A. These offices have been extremely instrumental in the progress and development of the Foundation.
This NGO in India well understands the importance of its supporters and has been prompt in felicitating them. Recent Akshaya Patra news covers the felicitation of two of its overseas supporters - Author Deepak Chopra and Former President of Mexico Vincente Fox. They were honoured for their support towards Akshaya Patra by Emily Rosenbaum, CEO and Vandana Tilak, Chapter Chair, of the NGO in India’s U.S.A wing. The felicitation event was hosted in California and was well attended by about 500 people.
Vincente Fox’s association with this NGO in India came about through the Chopra Foundation where he got introduced to the U.S.A. Chairman of Akshaya Patra - Gururaj 'Desh' Deshpande. Fox had also visited Akshaya Patra in 2014 as a part of his business trip to India. Fox emphasised that by actively participating in social issues we can do our bit in building a better world.
Deepak Chopra is the Founder of The Chopra Foundation and is also a member in the Advisory Board of Akshaya Patra’s U.S.A wing and is steered with the ideas of 'compassion, creativity and innovation'. He says that we are all part of an ecosystem and that the act of giving is related to self-awareness and community well-being.
