It’s that time of year again, when all join in to celebrate Joy of Giving (renamed to Daan Utsav in 2014). October 2nd to 8th each year entire India celebrates by providing Joy of Giving donations to ones who are in need.
The Joy of Giving blog on Akshaya Patra blog talks about how Joy of Giving is India’s largest philanthropic event. Joy of Giving donations is considered crucial by the organization as many Indians contribute money, in kind, time or skills for the benefit of the underprivileged in India. Joy of Giving has become a festival and promotes giving as a culture. NGOs, corporate houses, schools and individuals participate in many events and give to the less fortunate.
This year will see series of Joy of Giving events which is expected to raise huge amounts of funds towards many social causes across India. The Joy of Giving blog of Akshaya Patra also throws light on how the festival has paved way to mobilize tens of crores of rupees as Joy of Giving donations and millions of hours of individuals in the last year. It is an applauded celebration as execution of the idea is quite idealistic for many.
Akshaya Patra too celebrates Joy of Giving through an integrated online campaign to raise funds that would be used to provide food for education to children in need. It encourages Joy of Giving donations, volunteering, fundraising and the like. Joy of Giving blog also provides ideas on various donations that could be made to the organization in the joy of giving spirit.
Volunteering could also be a Joy of Giving activity where one could donate skills for a few hours in Akshaya Patra offices or organise activity for its beneficiaries. One could also write a about Joy of Giving blog dedicated to Akshaya Patra.
For this season, Akshaya Patra invites all to celebrate Joy of Giving with them. Volunteer, write a joy of giving blog, donate in kind or simply contribute through Joy of Giving donations. If you have any other idea contact Akshaya Patra and share it. Write to email@example.com or call their toll free 1800 425 8622 (india).
