The Akshaya Patra success stories give you an opportunity to know the beneficiaries a little more closely thereby revealing that some of their dreams might coincidentally match yours!

Here is a story of how the mid-day meals programme of Akshaya Patra has helped in transforming the lives of Saraswati and her siblings. Saraswati, a beneficiary of Akshaya Patra with strong will power and ‘never say never’ attitude, believes that for her sky is the only limit. At 22 years, she holds a degree of Master of Science in Bio Technology and is prepared to further her knowledge in the field by pursuing PhD in Bio Technology.

A brilliant scorer throughout high school, Saraswati (is among the Akshaya Patra success stories as) had to face a challenge to understand the language of instruction in Pre-University College since English was the medium of instruction and she had been a student of Kannada medium school since kindergarten. But that didn’t deter the aspiration of this beneficiary of Akshaya Patra. To this she wholeheartedly thanks her friends who supported her to understand the lessons imparted in the class.

Even though hailing from an economically disadvantaged background Saraswati along with her siblings are gradually improving the status of the family. Almost all her siblings have been and continue to be the beneficiaries of Akshaya Patra’s mid-day meals programme. Saraswati’s younger sister, Jayashree, is pursuing Engineering in Information Science in Bangalore. Her younger brother, Akshay, is a 3rd Semester student of Graduation in Arts. Her youngest brothers, Naveen and Chandan are studying in Pre-University College and Standard VIII, respectively. Saraswati says that the mid-day meals programme was of great support to her and her siblings. She further adds, “I aspire to research in the field of oncology and better the lives of cancer patients for which I am currently preparing for the NET. I also hope to become a Professor so that I can share my knowledge with those who are enthusiastic about education just like me.”

Children like Saraswati do not consider the hardships and odds of life as a hurdle in achieving their dreams. They put in all their efforts to cut through the challenges.
